USDCHF Technical Analysis: Consolidation Holds Above 0.8079 Pivot Support
USDCHF Technical Analysis: Consolidation Holds Above 0.8079 Pivot Support
In this comprehensive analysis, Ultima Markets brings you an insightful breakdown of USDCHF for August 19, 2026.
Technical Analysis of USDCHF
USDCHF Daily Chart Insight
(USDCHF Daily Chart, Source: Ultima Markets MT5)
USDCHF remains in a broader recovery structure on the daily chart, although recent price action has shifted into consolidation after the strong advance from the May–July period.
Price is currently trading around 0.81194, close to the red 16-period moving average, while remaining above the rising purple 50-period moving average and well above the blue 100-period moving average. The MA50 continues to slope upward and remains above the MA100, preserving the broader bullish structure, while the flattening MA16 reflects weaker near-term momentum.
RSI stands at 52.42, reinforcing a neutral-to-mildly bullish condition rather than strong directional momentum. Buyers retain the broader advantage while price holds above the MA50 area, but a sustained move beyond the recent 0.8133 region would be needed before another challenge toward the July highs can be confirmed.
Key Levels:
Support 1 (0.8104–0.8075): The immediate support zone contains recent consolidation lows and the rising purple 50-period moving average (MA50).
Support 2 (0.8046): This area marks a deeper visible support zone beneath the current consolidation.
Resistance 1 (0.8133): Immediate resistance around the upper boundary of recent daily price action.
Resistance 2 (0.8162): The next visible resistance area above the current range.
Resistance 3 (0.8191): The major July swing-high region and broader upside barrier.
USDCHF 2-Hour Chart Analysis
(USDCHF 2-Hour Chart, Source: Ultima Markets MT5)
USDCHF is consolidating on the 2-hour chart after recovering from the sharp decline seen around August 17. Price is trading near 0.81198 and remains around the purple 50-period moving average, while holding above the blue 100-period moving average.
The red 16-period moving average has turned higher after the rebound and is approaching the other moving averages, showing improving short-term momentum, but the cluster of all three averages confirms that directional conviction remains limited.
RSI is at 52.37, close to neutral territory, while recent candles continue to compress around the 0.8120 area. The short-term bias is therefore neutral to mildly bullish, with a breakout from the present consolidation required before stronger momentum can develop.
Breakout Scenarios:
Bullish continuation is a possible scenario, triggered by a decisive break and hold above the 0.8130–0.8138 resistance area. This would expose the next visible resistance around 0.8146.
Bearish correction is also a possible scenario, triggered by a failure to hold the 0.8106–0.8110 area followed by a decisive breakdown. This would place the recent 0.8090 region back into focus.
USDCHF Pivot Indicator
(USDCHF 30-Minute Chart, Source: Trading Central)
USDCHF is trading at approximately 0.8126 on the 30-minute chart, remaining above the main pivot support at 0.8079 but just below the first upside objective at 0.8132. This keeps the immediate bias bullish, although price has recently moved sideways beneath resistance.
RSI stands at 56.32, holding above the neutral 50 area without reaching overbought territory. MACD is around 0.00 and has flattened alongside its signal line, indicating that upside momentum has temporarily weakened as the market consolidates.
Bullish Breakout: The bullish preference remains valid while USDCHF holds above the 0.8079 pivot. A decisive break above 0.8132 would strengthen the upside case toward 0.8145. RSI should remain above 50 and strengthen, while MACD should turn higher relative to its signal line to confirm renewed bullish momentum.
Bearish Rejection: The immediate bias would shift bearish if USDCHF breaks decisively below the 0.8079 pivot. This would expose 0.8057 as the first downside target, followed by 0.8044. Confirmation would require RSI to fall below 50 while MACD turns lower and moves beneath its signal line.
