The global market landscape has been radically reshaped overnight by the historic events in Venezuela. The capture of Nicolas Maduro by US forces has triggered a massive “Old Economy” revival, sending the Dow Jones to fresh all-time highs while Oil markets navigate a complex new geopolitical reality.
The “Operation Absolute Resolve” over the weekend removed a major layer of uncertainty surrounding the Maduro regime. However, the market narrative has shifted rapidly from a simple expectation of “increased production” to a complex “political chess game.”

USOUSD, H4 Chart | Ultima Markets MT5
With the geopolitical risk premium continuing to underpin oil prices, the near-term outlook for WTI shows potential for a bullish recovery.
Despite the broader downtrend structure, recent price action suggests WTI is successfully establishing a base within the $57.50 – $58.50 area.
The Pivot: While this consolidation phase may extend briefly, a decisive breakout above $58.80 would suggest the market is undergoing a short-term bullish reversal, opening the door for further upside.
Wall Street is witnessing a historic sector rotation. The “Venezuela Shock” has sparked a rush into industrial and energy stocks—companies that will build and power the new regime—at the expense of overvalued Tech names.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJ30) surged over 800 points yesterday to breach 49,100 for the first time in history.
Energy giants (Chevron +6%) and Industrials (Caterpillar, Boeing) are leading the charge, fueled by expectations of massive reconstruction contracts
In contrast, the Nasdaq and S&P 500 remained relatively stagnant. Investors are liquidating “Growth” (Tech/AI) positions to chase “Value” (Energy/Banks) in what traders are calling the “Blue-Collar Pivot.”

NAS100, Daily Chart | Ultima Markets MT5
With the broader US market driver shifting from “Tech Optimism” to “Defensive Rotation” (benefiting the Dow), the Nasdaq 100 is losing its leadership status and faces a heightened risk of prolonged consolidation or a deeper correction in the near term.
Structurally, the bullish trend remains intact, but price action has compressed into a symmetrical triangle (converging consolidation). This “coiling” behavior often precedes a volatile breakout.
Traders should watch the triangle boundaries closely.
