米小売売上高とインフレの鈍化で、9月利下げ観測強まる 

4月の米小売売上高は前月比横ばいだった。これは3月の成長率0.6％の下方修正に続くもので、市場予想の0.4％を上回ったが、個人消費の若干の減速を示唆した。 

カテゴリー別では、全13業種の中、7業種が減少した。無店舗小売りが-1.2％、スポーツ・趣味用品が-0.9％、自動車・部品が-0.8％、家具が-0.5％など、大幅な減少となった。一方、ガソリンスタンドが3.1％、衣料品が1.6％、家電が1.5％など、増加となった。

4月の米消費者物価指数（CPI）は0.3％上昇し、過去2ヵ月間の0.4％上昇からやや低下、予想の0.4％も下回った。シェルター価格（家賃・宿泊費）は0.4％上昇、ガソリン価格は2.8％上昇した。これらは合わせてCPIの前月比上昇に70％以上寄与した。一方、食品価格は横ばいだった。自動車保険は1.8％、ヘルスケアは0.4％、衣料品は1.2％など多くの項目が上昇した。一方、中古車・トラック価格は1.4％下落、家具・関連価格は0.5％下落、新車価格は0.4％下落した。 

米国のインフレ率は市場予想通り、前年同月比3月の3.5％から3.4％に低下した。3月の数値は昨年9月以来の高水準だった。

価格変動が激しいエネルギーと食品を除く4月のコア指数(Core　CPI)は前年比3.6%と、予想通り3年ぶりの低水準に低下した。食品とエネルギーを除いたコア指数の年間上昇率の3分の2以上を占めるシェルター価格は5.5%増と、3月の5.7%増を若干下回った。自動車保険は22.6％増、医療サービスは2.6％増、パーソナルケアは3.7％増、レクリエーションは1.5％増なども顕著な伸びを示した。前月比では、4月のコアCPIは0.3%上昇した。これは3月と2月の0.4%上昇より鈍いペースであり、市場予想に一致した。

水曜日、予想を下回る消費者物価指数（CPI）が発表された後、米国株は上昇して引け、主要3株価指数はすべて過去最高値を更新した。S&P500指数は1.17％上昇し、初めて終値で5,308.15ポイントを突破した。NYダウは0.88％高の349.89ポイント上昇、ナスダックは1.4％上昇した。
