カナダ　予想外のインフレ加速、追加利下げ観測は後退

カナダの5月のインフレ率は前年同月比2.9％上昇し、4月に発表された3年ぶりの低水準2.7％から予想外の急上昇となった。市場では2.6%に鈍化すると予想されていた。さらに、インフレ率は前月比で0.6％上昇した。物価水準は、カナダ中銀が今年上半期のインフレ率を年率3％前後と予想したのとほぼ一致したが、スタグフレーションの傾向は、予想された金融緩和策に難題を突きつけた。 

インフレ率の上昇にはいくつかの主な要因が寄与した。航空輸送価格は4.5%上昇し、その結果、輸送コストは3.5%上昇し、4月の3.1%から上昇した。食料品は2.4%上昇し、前月の2.3%から上昇、店舗売りの食品価格は1.5%上昇し、2023年6月以降初めて加速し、前月の1.4%から上昇した。ヘルス＆パーソナルケアは3.6％の上昇と、4月の3％から上昇した。家庭関連・家具・器具の価格下落幅は1.5％減と、4月の2.1％減より縮小した。住居関連は6.4％と高水準を維持したが、それ以上の増加はなかった。 

カナダのインフレの予想外の上昇を受けて、カナダドル対米ドル相場は1.365まで上昇し、6月3日以来の高値を更新した。カナダ中銀は今月、政策金利を25ベーシスポイント引き下げて4.75％とし、インフレが予想通り鈍化を続けていることから、さらなる利下げの可能性を示唆した。しかし、予想外の物価上昇により、カナダ中銀は次の利下げにより慎重な姿勢を示すかもしれない。
