日銀、政策金利据え置き、円軟調

日本銀行は20日の金融政策決定会合で、政策金利を現状に据え置くことと発表した。植田和男総裁は、中央銀行が海外経済の不透明感の影響を見極めるには時間が必要であると述べ、すぐに利上げということにはならないとの考えを示した。こうしたハト派的な姿勢が円相場の下落を招き、日銀が年内に再び利上げに踏み切るかどうか、これまで多くの人が予想していたような利上げは行われないのではないかという懸念が市場に広がった。この日のドル円相場は0.86％上昇し、143.85で終えた。

植田和男総裁は、日本の経済状況は予想とおりであり、賃金の伸びが消費を押し上げ、インフレ率が日銀の目標である2％に近づいていることに言及した。日銀が短期金利の誘導目標を0.25％程度に据え置くという大方の予想通りの決定を下した後の記者会見で、植田和男総裁は「世界経済の見通しは依然として極めて不透明であり、金融市場の動きは不安定さを示しているため、こうした動きを慎重に見極めていく必要がある」と述べた。

最近の円の反発は輸入物価の上昇圧力を和らげ、国内の過度なインフレのリスクを軽減した。一方、日本の三村淳財務官は、円キャリートレードの復活はボラティリティを高める可能性があるため、当局は市場を注意深く監視していると述べた。また、これまでの円キャリートレードのような動きは、足元では基本的には解消された状態だと思っている、と述べた。
