英国首相が予想に反して7月に総選挙を実施すると発表した後、現地時間5月30日に英議会下院が解散され、正式に総選挙手続きに入った。選挙後に英国が利下げに踏み切るとの観測から、短期的なポンド売り心理が強まっている。 

  • 金融政策姿勢の違いがポンド高を牽引 

英国の政策金利はG10の大半の国々を上回る水準で推移し、イングランド銀行は他の中央銀行に遅れをとって政策緩和を進めるとみられる。このため、英ポンドは引き続き魅力的な金利裁定取引の機会を提供するとの見方が強まっている。また、英国のインフレの冷え込みが予想より緩やかなため、投資家は利下げ開始の観測を11月まで先送りしている。
